August 3, 2004 -- Women have probably always felt ignorant about what goes on inside men; the difference with today’s women may be that more than ever they are prepared to seek out the answers because they know this world has to change. And whilst much of what they find out may challenge them, it seems that a mixture of curiosity, courage and a desire to improve relationships is enough to spur many women on into gaining the information which they know will ultimately help them to change their lives, and those of their children, for the better.And that’s probably why as many women as men are buying Barry Durdant-Hollamby’s book The Male Agenda, a book that gives women insights into the private world of men.
That this book has found an audience at all is intriguing. It has not been advertised to date in any major journals, neither has it been available in any major bookshops. It has spread solely through word of mouth and is selling via mail order direct from the author’s house. Yet people are seeking it out. It has received backing from some of the leaders in men’s work and happiness psychology such as Australian author Steve Biddulph and UK visionary Robert Holden.
The first few magazines to discover the book were edited by women and had a mainly female readership. As many letters are received from women as men of which the following, from a 20 yr old P.A, are typical of the type of feedback that has been received: “The book gave me great ideas as to how to improve my relationships with the men in my life – including my dad who left home when I was 14.”
But men want to read about men as well – because many men are ready to create change. And this book is beginning to reach them too. The Male Agenda was selected for distribution to 155 UK prison libraries on the basis that it’s no-nonsense and uplifting approach could inspire inmates to make positive life changes. Barry Durdant-Hollamby has also recently become a monthly contributor at Menstuff, an American web-site which attracts circa 2 million hits every month.
Women the world over want to know what makes their men tick and they will seek that information out wherever they can. The Male Agenda, a book by Barry Durdant-Hollamby ONLY available from www.artofchange.co.uk, is clearly meeting a need of which even its author was unaware at the time of writing. Is this just the tip of the ice-berg?
